June Grasses
June Grasses

I was high up on the banks of the South Saskatchewan river, looking for pretty things to photograph at the end of a sunny day. The sun shone through the uncut grasses. It was then that I noticed all the purple. As I snapped photos, I thought how wonderful this would be to stitch. It looked so much like threads and yarns. 8x10 inches, with no mat and no glass in a white-washed pale wood frame that is almost 2 inches deep. Handstitched thread and hand dyed silk. $850CAD

Walk with Buddy
Walk with Buddy

Enjoying our morning walks at the off leash park, there is one place where we veer off the main path to our own private field to play fetch. I know the spot because there are large rocks coming out of the ground. We climb a little slope and we end up in a sunny, open area. This is that spot. Hand stitching and needle felting. Felt, yarn, silk. Art - 15x8" Frame - 22"x15" No glass, with Linen mat and dark expresso frame $1500CAD

Bursting
Bursting

This was one of my first yarn pieces. I was in love with the texture and colour I could play with. Each huge stitch felt like a stroke of blended paint. It was fantastic to create, and I think it expresses the way I felt about stitching so boldly. Hand stitched yarn, thread. Art - 5"x5" Frame - 10x10" No glass with linen mat and natural wood frame. $275CAD

Summer Bouquet
Summer Bouquet

Inspired a technique I had developed called 'Letting the Yarn Speak', this was stitched out with only a couple variegated yards. I let the changing colours dictate the stitches. As I worked and built the piece, I saw a lively, full ditch. To top off the bouquet, I added the big yellow sorbello knots to represent the canola that was blooming. Hand Stitched Yarn Art: 6.5"x6.5" Frame: 13"x13"x 1.75" Under glass with double floating white mat in medium brown wood frame. $575CAD

Little Trail
Little Trail

At Cranberry Flats at the end of summer, I found a little trail that was barely there, off the main path that we always take. I was so intrigued to follow it. It was the end of the season, but the little yellow flowers were hidden in the grasses, and the bees were busy. It was a really lovely walk. There's such wonder in quiet, new places. Hand stitched yarn and thread. Art - approx 7x10" Frame - approx 14x17" Under glass with double floating mat in an expresso frame. $750CAD
